NPMC to host Business After Hours with 'Special Guests'

(Hot Springs, AR) July 29, 2024—Business After Hours will have a few “unusual” guests for the month of August. National Park Medical Center is hosting the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce’s next monthly Business After Hours and will have some of its surgical robots in attendance for guests to “network” with. The robots will be on display so the community can learn hands-on about new healthcare technology. Physicians who use the machines will also be in attendance to show how they work and answer questions.

The results from the "Name the Robot" competition, held recently will be announced and each robot will be given its "Official" name. BAH will be Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5-7 p.m.

NPMC is home to several surgical robots that are used for orthopedic, urological, and gastrointestinal surgeries, as well as other types of surgeries. Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control. This allows the operation to be less invasive and is often performed through a tiny incision.

Participants at BAH are invited to meet the robots and see first-hand how they work. Several providers will also be on hand to demonstrate and explain surgical procedures in their specialty.

NPMC Chef Matthew Johnson will provide a large display of special hors d'oeuvres made specifically for the event. Johnson is a graduate of the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Beer and wine are provided by the Chamber.

BAH is a networking event held by the Chamber at various member business locations. The cost is $5 to attend. It will be held at The Heart and Vascular Center, which is connected to National Park Medical Center, but has a separate entrance and parking area, located off Hollywood Avenue.
