Hot Springs Community Resource Center Opens Cooling Shelter This Weekend Due to Extreme Heat

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – With extreme heat expected this weekend, the Hot Springs Community Resource Center will open its cooling shelter on Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to provide a safe, air-conditioned space for individuals seeking relief from the high temperatures.

Community members are encouraged to take precautions during periods of extreme heat by staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors, and checking on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.

The Community Resource Center is also requesting donations to help support guests who utilize the cooling shelter. Needed items include:

Bottled water

Fresh fruit

Individually packaged snacks

Toilet paper

Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Hot Springs Community Resource Center, 109 Hobson Avenue. Donors should turn the corner at Hobson Avenue and Charteroak Street and enter through the open gate to the parking lot.

Every donation, regardless of size, helps provide comfort and care for community members during these dangerously hot summer days.
