Hill Makes History in NPC's 25th Win

HARRISON, ARKANSAS – The No.1 ranked National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s basketball team (25-0) remained undefeated with a 108-66 win over North Arkansas College in National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Region 2 play Thursday.

Behind red-hot shooting from sophomore guard Ja’Bryant Hill (Dallas, Texas), NPC developed its rhythm early, building a 24-16 lead with 11:07 to play in the first half. With sophomore forwards Them Koang (Grand Island, Nebraska) and Anthony Swift (Las Vegas, Nevada) dominating the rebounding battle, Hill sliced through the Pioneer defense for most of the first half en route to a 51-36 NPC lead at the break.

The Nighthawks kept their foot on the gas in the second half, erupting on a 21-3 run out of the gate to put the game out of reach. Hill’s hot night continued, knocking down seven total three-pointers while padding NPC’s lead from the free throw line. With 13 free throws in the contest, Hill passed former Nighthawk Kam Vick to become NPC’s all-time free throw leader. Defensively, Koang and Swift kept the Pioneers in check as NPC cruised to its 25th victory of the season.

Hill led the Nighthawks in scoring with 50 points, becoming NPC’s single-game scoring leader. The previous record of 41 points was set by former Nighthawk Patrick Greene against North Arkansas College in 2019. Koang added with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Swift added 16 rebounds and nine points in the win.

The Nighthawks conclude the 2023-24 regular season  to Southern Arkansas University Tech Saturday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. As NJCAA Region 2 champions, National Park College has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 2 Tournament, held at Harding University in Searcy. The Nighthawks will have a first round bye to the semifinal round held Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m.
