Garvan Woodland Gardens will welcome its neighbors for Community in Bloom Day on Saturday, October 3, offering free admission to residents of Garland, Hot Spring and Clark counties.

Community in Bloom Day is made possible through the generosity of donors who supported Garvan Woodland Gardens during the University of Arkansas’ One Day, One U of A giving campaign. Their support provides an opportunity for the Gardens to give back to the surrounding community and welcome local residents to experience the Gardens at no cost.

The event arrives as fall begins to take shape throughout the Gardens. Seasonal displays featuring pumpkins, gourds and colorful mums are being installed across the property, bringing the colors and textures of autumn to the Gardens’ woodland landscape.

Visitors can also experience Where the Wind Lives, the large-scale outdoor exhibition by artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. The colorful, kinetic installations move and change with the wind in three locations throughout the Gardens: the Great Lawn, Evans Children’s Adventure Garden and Millsap Bridge. The exhibition remains on view through October 18, making Community in Bloom Day one of the final opportunities for local residents to experience it before it closes.

Families are encouraged to explore the Evans Children’s Adventure Garden, where children can discover the Garden through play and exploration. The interactive space includes the Bob and Sunny Evans Tree House and other features designed to connect children with the natural world.

With 210 acres to explore, Community in Bloom Day offers local residents an opportunity to experience the Gardens during a unique transition between seasons — from the final weeks of Where the Wind Lives to the arrival of pumpkins, mums and the Gardens’ fall displays.

Free admission is available to residents of Garland, Hot Spring and Clark counties. Proof of residency is required upon arrival.

Community in Bloom Day will take place Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Garvan Woodland Gardens, 550 Arkridge Road in Hot Springs. Regular admission rates apply to guests who reside outside the three participating counties.
