City seeks applicants for open position on the Hot Springs Housing Authority
HOT SPRINGS – The City of Hot Springs is accepting applications until noon on Monday, July 22, for position one on the Hot Springs Housing Authority.
The Hot Springs Housing Authority meets monthly on the third Monday at 12:00 noon. Commissioners of the Housing Authority serve for a term of five (5) years and must reside in the city or within its area of operation which is defined as the area within 15 miles of its territorial boundaries. No Commissioner may be an officer or employee of the City of Hot Springs or an employee of a housing authority. No commissioner shall acquire any interest, direct or indirect, in any housing project or in any property included or planned to be included in any project, nor have any interest, direct or indirect, in any contract or proposed contract for materials or services to be furnished or used in connection with any housing project.
The Hot Springs Housing Authority is a public body corporate and politic, exercising exclusively public and essential governmental functions and having all the powers necessary or convenient to carry out and effectuate the purposes and provisions of A.C.A §14-169-101, et seq., including but not limited to the following: to sue and be sued, to have a seal and to alter the same at pleasure, to have perpetual succession, to make and execute contracts and other instruments necessary or convenient to the exercise of the powers of the authority; to make and from time to time amend and repeal bylaws, rules, and regulations not inconsistent with local, state or federal law to carry into effect the powers and purposes of the authority, to invest any funds held in reserves or sinking funds, or any funds not required for immediate disbursement, in property or securities in which savings banks may legally invest funds subject to their control; to purchase its bonds at a price not more than the principal amount thereof and accrued interest, all bonds so purchased to be cancelled; to exercise all or any part or combination of the powers granted in A.C.A. § 14-169-212, et seq. including to conduct investigations and examinations, oaths and subpoenas, to acquire, operate and construct housing projects, to finance projects, etc.
The Board will interview all applicants on Tuesday, July 30, following its regularly-scheduled agenda meeting at 4 p.m. in the Board Chambers at City Hall, 133 Convention Boulevard and will make a recommendation for appointment at that time.
